The media regulation authority of Cape Verde pays a working visit to the HACA
At the invitation of President of the HACA, Ms Amina Lemrini Elouahabi, Ms. Arminda Pereira de Barros, President of the Social Communication Regulatory Authority (ARC) of Cape Verde, accompanied with Messrs. Alfredo Pereira, member of the Council of the ARC and Avelino Pires, IT engineer, paid a working visit to the High Authority from 10th to 13th September 2018.

The aim of this visit was mainly to reinforce the relations of cooperation between this young institution, which started its activities in 2015, and the High Authority, both in a bilateral scale and within the framework of the African Communication Regulation Authorities Network (ACRAN) to which the ARC adhered recently.
During this visit, the ARC delegation held numerous work and exchange sessions, in particular with the President of the High Authority Ms. Amina Lemrini Elouahabi, and the members of the Higher Council of audio-visual communication (CSCA) Ms. Rabha Zeidguy and Khadija El Gour and Mr. Mohammed Abderahim, as well as with the Director General of the HACA Mr. Jamal Eddine Naji and the Deputy Director-General, Mr. Abdeljalil Elhammoumi.

The ARC delegation, highly interested in the experience of the HACA in terms of the organization and the functioning, the elaboration of studies and reports, the human resources management and the monitoring of audio-visual content, also held work and exchange meetings with managers of the following departments: Studies and Development, Technical Infrastructure and Technological Survey, Legal, Program monitoring, IT, and Administrative and Financial.

In the margin of their visit and following the proposal of the HACA, the ARC representatives visited the headquarters of the operators SNRT and Hit Radio in Rabat.
It is to be noted that the ARC was created in 2011. Its main missions lie to guaranteeing the right to information, the freedom of the press and the cultural diversity. The institution is also charged with liaising with the competent authority in the field of competition, sound and efficient functioning of the audio-visual and print media, for a better implementation of transparency and equity. The ARC council is composed of five members, including the President, which is elected by the National Assembly for a non-renewable six-year term.
At the end of their visit, President of the ARC warmly thanked the President of the HACA for the excellent organisation of the mission and the dispositions taken for this matter, and invited her to take a tour at the ARC at the earliest opportunity.
